George Campbell got a small taste of life in the EFL Championship on Saturday and looks set to make his full debut on Tuesday in League Cup action.
Campbell made a late cameo in West Bromwich Albion’s 1-0 league victory over Blackburn Rovers, which marked his official debut for the Baggies. The former Atlanta United and CF Montreal defender made the move abroad this summer, earning a major move during the prime of his career.
Ryan Mason’s squad faces off with Derby County in EFL Cup play on Tuesday, which could lead to Campbell making his first start for the club. Although a showdown with fellow American Patrick Agyemang seems unlikely due to Agyemang’s recovery from summer surgery, Campbell will be set to impress his new boss as the Baggies seek a spot in the second round.
Elsewhere in England, Damion Downs seeks his first start for Southampton at Northampton Town. Josh Sargent and Norwich City visit Watford in an All-EFL Championship affair. Lynden Gooch and Huddersfield Town seek an upset win over Leicester City.
In Europe, Rokas Pukstas and Erik Palmer-Brown continue through European qualifying.
