Antonee Robinson to miss Fulham’s opening matches

Fulham will not have the services of star left back Antonee Robinson for its opening slate of English Premier League matches.

Robinson is continuing rehabilitation on his right knee after undergoing surgery at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season. The veteran defender did not feature in any of the Cottagers preseason matches this summer and was also unavailable for the U.S. men’s national team’s involvement at the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Fulham manager Marco Silva isn’t expecting to have Robinson available for the opening weekend or the few weekends after.

“We had a situation last season with Antonee Robinson and he is still recovering,” said Silva during his prematch press conference. “Soon you are going to see him in contention for the games but this weekend is too early.”

Robinson starred for Fulham last season, registering 10 assists in 38 appearances across all competitions. His impressive campaign attracted reported interest from Liverpool and Manchester City, but the 28-year-old remained in West London.

Whether or not Robinson will be ready prior to the September FIFA window remains to be seen, but if he isn’t, Mauricio Pochettino might be looking elsewhere for left backs ahead of the USMNT’s pair of home friendlies.

Robinson hasn’t featured for the USMNT since November 2024 and remains a key loss in the squad.

Fulham opens its 2025-26 league schedule at Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday. The Cottagers will also face Manchester United, Bristol City (EFL Cup), and Chelsea before the September international break.

  1. to remind some folks, he had “minor” knee surgery nearly 3 months ago.

we play korea and japan in slightly over 2 weeks. there will be no jedi there. again. period.

the USMNT needs to quit treating when a starter is out like an exercise in farting around til they get back. who is adams backup? who is going to play LB?

and we need to always be preparing for the possibilities. miles hasn’t looked the same since the achilles. debatable how good adams has looked lately. it should be a constant competition as though the next guy up might have to start the world cup, not a seat filler at the oscars.

    • Some people were calling him out or at least adding his name to the string of names they spewed from their pie hole. If i never had to listen to Taylor Twellman again i would be delighted!!

  2. People who are stupid often don’t realize it and so do not feel stupid.

When Jedi was hurt the problem was reported as a form of tendinitis. In English, overuse of the joint.
The solution to that is, of course, to play more frequently in tough tournaments like the Gold Cup.

We’ll be seeing more of these soon. The kids are getting older.

    • personally i thought there was no reason for the march bunch to be playing in june. needed rest. and even if it was meant as an A tournament, only stupid management brings back the same people who got wiped in march.

and yeah, i’ve said 20x we should sit anyone with something we’d call an injury. the only time we should chance that is the world cup.

personally i saw the failures of june as (a) the coach didn’t seem to be on the same page as his core players (and still doesn’t seem so) about how gold cup was going to be handled and (b) USMNT’s scouting (or analytics, or whoever picked the ultimate june roster guys, was awful. a whole swath of that team was useless, as seen in the swiss game.

that and even if we had used the A team (c) i remain skeptical that we couldn’t have had campbell, reyna, weah, and others with us. weah has already switched teams and the other 2 are shop windowed and played a grand total of 12′ in 5 dortmund games.

  3. I bet some of the old guard feel stupid calling out these players for not participating in the Gold Cup where many are still trying to recover from off season injuries/surgeries.
