  1. Gio Reyna at a crossroads, again: USMNT midfielder faces more change after Borussia Monchengladbach fire boss Gerardo Seoane

Gerardo Seoane was fired by Borussia Mönchengladbach on September 15, 2025, just three games into the 2025-26 Bundesliga season. The decision came after a 4-0 defeat to Werder Bremen and a winless, goalless start to the season, extending a winless streak from the previous season. Reserve-team coach Eugen Polanski was named caretaker manager.

I hope Gio doesn’t turn into a “Journeyman” player…… like in the curious Case of Freddy Adu. I hope this kid catches a break. Damn

    • Bizzy,

Freddy Adu’s situation has very little similarity to Gio’s.

Gio’s “representation” whether that is family, professional agents or Gio himself, has been less than impressive but at least “they”, collectively, appear to have his best interests at heart, even if they seem less than competent.

Freddy was a teenager who had some serious talent.
What he did not have was a family or “people” who had his best interests at heart. He looked like a piece on meat who was basically “trafficked” to make a buck. And even if he was the primary in charge, how many people here can say they had excellent career judgement and good financial instincts when they were a teenager?

Freddy signed with Benfica and one reason he was such a “journeyman” was that they kept loaning him out. It does not look like he could cut it with the big club. And then once his Benfica deal ran out he needed the money.

Most of the Americans Abroad we follow here seem to be so much better taken care of than Adu was, it’s pathetic. His story is an embarrassment and should serve as a cautionary tale.

  2. Ouch. Brutally harsh penalty called against Pepi, trying to clear a corner after chesting a ball down on the turn: the attacker came in out of nowhere and got to the ball first.

      • …and shot straight at the ‘keeper from a tight angle on a fast break when squaring to a wide-open teammate was the better option. Pulled midway through the 2nd half. I’d rate him a 3 or 4 out of 10. Dest is also having a stinker.
All of that being said, Union has been the better team.
