Yunus Musah is heading away from the San Siro but not from Serie A entirely.
Musah has joined Atalanta on a season-long loan spell from AC Milan, both clubs announced Monday. The loan deal also includes an option to buy, should Atalanta decide to do so.
The 22-year-old Musah originally joined AC Milan in 2023 from Valencia. Musah proceeded to make 83 appearances for the Rossoneri over the past two seasons, which also included recent appearances in this summer’s Italian campaign.
Prior to his move to Italy, Musah scored five goals in 108 appearances for Valencia over three seasons in Spain’s La Liga.
A former dual-national, Musah committed his international future to the United States in 2020 and has since earned 47 caps.
Atalanta has drawn its opening two Serie A matches this season and will be part of the UEFA Champions League later this month.

my only question is playing time. it’s like 50 miles away from where he was playing already, might not even have to move. they came across as defensive but sloppy, but they were 2nd in the league in GF. more than napoli, my tidiness comparison. i think he fits what they do. i don’t know enough about personnel whether he starts or subs.
They have a new manager, who has lasted only 3 or 4 months in his last two stops so I wouldn’t put anything in stone and they have 2 pts from Pisa and Parma which isn’t a strong vote of confidence. They return 4 of their top 5 midfielders from last year but they are paying ACM 4 million just for this season so he’ll get some chances. If they end up buying at the end of the year for an additional 20-25 million he’ll definitely play.
that 3421 formation they played against parma (a) looks the same as last year on paper and (b) you could use him at about every spot but striker. either of the interior mid slots, wing mid or wing forward.
i assume they didn’t buy him to sit him but that was the 3rd place team last season.
take him on loan to sit him, same diff.
Is he actually gonna play in the MF? I think he’s more suited for a wide MF/RWB in at 3 man back line. He can carry the ball, dribble out of pressure and has quite an engine for chasing back and making up numbers.
Atalanta is NOT a confidence inspiring team at this moment though. Something is not quite right. Maybe mUSAh can make them right…
IV: Juric used a 3-4-2-1 at Roma and Southampton as well.
Tx: they are more set at CM than their outside spots, so I agree I think he’ll start wide.
-Juric is living off a couple of good seasons with Torino and Verona. In that he made some bad teams mid table. But he was bad at Roma and Southampton was just terrible under all their managers that year so not necessarily his fault.
-Gasperini had been there forever as manager and they lost their 25 league goal scorer Retegui so it will be hard to get back to last years prominence. Camara was good in the past but does his knee came back played 5 minutes and did his hammy last year so fingers crossed at striker.
Good move!
