PSV furthered its grip at the top of the Eredvisie table on Sunday with its American duo connecting on one of the goals.
Ricardo Pepi scored his ninth goal of the season in all competitions as PSV defeated FC Utrecht 2-1 away from home. Pepi connected with fellow U.S. men’s national team teammate Sergino Dest for the first time this season.
Despite trailing 1-0 at halftime, PSV rallied in the second half to grab all three points.
Dest’s cross in the 52nd minute was finished off by Pepi for a 1-1 equalizer. It marked Pepi’s fourth match in his last five with a goal to his name.
Ivan Perisic played the hero for PSV with 14 minutes to play, moving the reigning champions’ record to 15-1-1 in league play.
Dest played the full 90 minutes in the match while Pepi was substituted off after 89 minutes.
PSV holds an 11-point lead in the league table heading into a two-week winter break. Peter Bosz’s men will return to action on January 10 against Excelsior.
