Over two months since his last appearance for Scottish Premiership side Celtic, Auston Trusty made his long-awaited return to action.
Trusty logged 90 minutes in Celtic’s 4-0 league victory over Falkirk on Wednesday, helping the reigning champions rebound from a weekend defeat at Hearts. The American defender completed a match-high 74 passes while also winning seven duels, making four clearances, and two defensive recoveries.
A first-half brace from Johnny Kenny paired with second-half goals from Benjamin Nygren and Sebastian Tounekti helped Martin O’Neill’s squad move six points back of league-leading Hearts.
Trusty will aim to retain his starting spot this weekend when Celtic faces off with Glasgow rivals Rangers in the Scottish League Cup semifinals.
In France, Folarin Balogun scored once in Monaco’s victory over Nantes. Tanner Tessmann featured off of the bench in Lyon’s 3-3 draw with Paris FC. Mark McKenzie and Toulouse tied Stade Rennes.
In Italy, Weston McKennie and Juventus ended their winless run in Serie A play. Jonathan Klinsmann and Cesena continued their strong Serie B run.
In Germany, James Sands and St. Pauli outlasted Hoffenheim in German Cup action. John Tolkin and Holstein Kiel pulled an upset over Wolfsburg.
Elsewhere, Erik Palmer-Brown went the distance in Panathinaikos’ Greek Cup win over Atromitos. Rokas Pukstas captained Hajduk Split in a Croatian Cup victory. Marlon Fossey and Standard Liege advanced in the Belgian Cup. Jordan Pefok and Tondela suffered Portuguese Cup elimination.

Good to see Cremaschi get on the field for Parma for about 15 minutes.
