Americans Abroad Weekend Preview: Scally, Pepi, and more

Things have been pretty dismal for Borussia Moenchengladbach this season and Saturday could be another worrying result if they don’t play their cards right.

Joe Scally and his Gladbach teammates welcome league-leading Bayern Munich to town. Scally has been one of the consistent performers for Gladbach this season, but overall it’s been a start to forget overall for the club. Gladbach are bottom of the Bundesliga table and winless through their opening seven league matches. Bayern Munich are 18 points better off than Gladbach, sitting a perfect 7-0-0 and holding a whopping +21 goal differential.

The 22-year-old Scally has started six league matches this season, registering two assists and logging 535 minutes of playing time. A veteran member of the squad, Scally may need to lead by example if Eugen Polanski’s squad wants to pull a major upset at Borussia Park.

Odds will be in Bayern’s favor to walk away with three points, but a positive result at home could be what gets Gladbach going this fall.

In England, Tyler Adams and Bournemouth host Nottingham Forest in Premier League action. Chris Richards and Crystal Palace visit London rivals Arsenal. Josh Sargent and Norwich City aim to stop their winless run at Swansea City.

Elsewhere in Germany, Noahkai Banks and Augsburg host RB Leipzig. Kristoffer Lund and FC Koln take a trip to Borussia Dortmund.

In France, Tanner Tessmann and Lyon face Strasbourg in a top-five Ligue 1 showdown. Tim Weah and Marseille are also in action against Lens.

In Italy, Weston McKennie and Juventus face a trip to Lazio in Serie A play. Ben Cremaschi and Parma take on Como.

Elsewhere, Ricardo Pepi, Sergino Dest and PSV visit league-leading Feyenoord in Eredivisie action. Richie Ledezma and Chivas face Atlas in Liga MX play. Auston Trusty and Celtic seek a bounce-back result at league-leaders Hearts. Matthew Hoppe and Sonderjyske visit Randers in Superliagen action. Bryan Reynolds, Griffin Yow and Westerlo take on Dender in Belgium.
