Antonee Robinson’s fall will unfortunately continue this weekend.
Robinson has been ruled out of Fulham’s English Premier League trip to Newcastle United on Saturday, Cottagers manager Marco Silva confirmed. The U.S. men’s national team left back has been dealing with a knee issue for most of the season, which forced him to miss both of the international windows this season.
Robinson has only went the distance once this season for Fulham, logging a full 90 minutes in an EFL Cup victory over Cambridge United. Due to his absences, Ryan Sessegnon has held down the starting left back position for Fulham through the opening two-and-a-half months.
After joining Fulham in 2020, Robinson has made 193 appearances for the club, becoming one of the better left backs in the Premier League.
Robinson has not featured for the USMNT since November 2024, opening the door for Max Arfsten to earn most of the left back opportunities this year. With Robinson set to miss this weekend’s match, it looks very unlikely that he will be part of Mauricio Pochettino’s November roster.
Fulham will travel to Wycombe Wanderers in EFL Cup play next week before hosting Wolves and visiting Everton in its final two league matches before the FIFA international break.

when poch originally got the US he was doing that assymetrical thing with jedi up but the RB more stay at home. we haven’t really played that way since, but maybe it’s still in his head as a selection concept. he seems more open to LB with defensive issues and more tough on RB, eg, the error prone scally has been gone a while.
There’s an article out there about Dest’s USMNT spot not being secure but he could be an option on the left. He has the same strengths and weaknesses as Arfsten but at higher level.
But if Dest was left off the last camp for more than injury reasons then he wouldn’t be an option on the left or right so we are left with what we had last camp. And they were serviceable if not good.
Getting a healthy Jedi or in form Dest back in the fold will just be a bonus.
That was just Carlisle being Carlisle trying to deum up controversy. Only reason he came out with that article was because Dest was late in the morning before the Champions league game.
Do you think? I thought it was weird Jedi got the call and Dest didn’t considering where both were in respect to their injuries. Dest had gone 73 minutes in the game before the camp. Jedi was getting garbage time if he was getting any. I wasn’t surprised to see that article…also, the back up at PSV is pushing Dest.
dest can not play left side. period. gets tooled up like a flinching HS JV defender. try someone else. y’all keep repeating these “sargent” type names on rep. as a back dest is right side. i’d like to see him tried as a frontline option.
i did not like what i heard when someone described what jedi is dealing with. we have been fairly passive about it, playing arfsten and acting like we are holding jedi’s slot open otherwise. i am a little concerned if jedi cannot go that we have not identified any LB that can defend the position. arfsten is all attack shaky defend. that’s really more of a sub profile. you’re down and you need a goal or you go home. you toss on the guy with a creative talent but some defending risk.
at a point of lengthy absence, “when we get him back we’ll be good” sounds naive. you need contingencies, both to field full teams now and to prepare “in case.”
Might be time to bring in Lund and see if he can be a a possible option.
We already know he is an option.
Is a better than the number of options that have arisen since he last played for the USMNT?
That’s the question.
Thats what I was alluding to.
after looking decent his initial caps, he was bad when brought back for the fall 2024 windows. bad giveaways trying to one-time balls from the chalk back into the middle.
nah, i’d like to see fossey, moore, bello, tolkin, in that order. fossey i don’t know why he disappeared. moore is a good no nonsense defender.
