In the battle of two U.S. men’s national team strikers, one had the last laugh on Wednesday night.
Patrick Agyemang assisted once in Derby County’s 1-0 EFL Championship victory over Norwich City. Agyemang played 85 minutes in the match while Josh Sargent played 90 minutes in the road loss.
After a goal-less first half, John Eustace’s squad found the breakthrough goal with Agyemang registering his third assist of the campaign. Agyemang bullied his way along the goal-line in the 54th minute before teeing up David Ozoh for a right-footed finish into the bottom corner.
The Rams would hang on for a crucial three points, leapfrogging Liam Manning’s squad and moving three points clear of the relegation zone.
Norwich City dropped into the bottom-three after seeing its winless run extend to seven matches.
Up next for Derby County is a home date with QPR on Saturday while Norwich City seeks to end its winless run at Swansea City on the same day.
