Dutch side PSV has recent positive history against English giants Liverpool and the two squads will resume their head-to-head duel on Wednesday at Anfield.
Peter Bosz’s squad face a trip to Anfield in UEFA Champions League action this week, seeking to claim a major scalp in league phase play. Sergino Dest, who featured in both of the U.S. men’s national team’s friendlies this month, returned to Eredivisie play on Saturday for the league-leaders.
Dest played 90 minutes in PSV’s gritty 1-0 win over NAC Breda, a result that extended the club’s current unbeaten run to 11 matches. The versatile wingback/fullback has made 16 appearances this season across all competitions, scoring two goals and adding two assists.
PSV claimed a 3-2 victory over Liverpool in last season’s competition, despite the match being in Eindhoven rather than in Merseyside. Regardless, PSV will be confident of picking up a result knowing that Liverpool has lost three of its last five matches in all competitions.
