Josh Sargent out of concussion protocol, back available for Norwich City

Norwich City will have American forward Josh Sargent back available for Boxing Day.

Canaries manager Philippe Clement confirmed Sargent’s availability for Friday’s home showdown with Charlton Athletic in his prematch press conference Tuesday. Sargent is now out of concussion protocol after missing the last two matches.

“Sargent is back in training and will be available on Boxing Day,” Clement said in his press conference.

Sargent last featured for the Canaries on December 9, playing 44 minutes in a 1-1 draw with Sheffield United. His concussion forced him out of a 2-1 victory over Southampton and a recent 1-1 draw with Preston North End.

The 25-year-old has contributed seven goals and three assists in 21 appearances across all competitions. His goal against Watford on December 6 was his first since August 30, ending a lengthy scoring drought for the Missouri native.

Sargent’s return is surely welcomed with the Canaries sitting second-from-bottom in the 24-team league table. The Canaries are three points from safety after 22 matches played this season, but will have three of their next four league matches at Carrow Road.
