Mark McKenzie and Tim Weah did battle on Saturday with McKenzie’s Toulouse squad having the final say at the Orange Velodrome.
McKenzie assisted on Toulouse’s stoppage time equalizer as the two Ligue 1 clubs played out a 2-2 draw. Both McKenzie and Weah played the full 90 minutes in the head-to-head showdown, a result that kept both teams in the top-half of the league table.
McKenzie won two duels, made five clearances and made three blocks for ninth-place Toulouse. Santiago Hidalgo headed home McKenzie’s pass in the 92nd minute, giving the visitors a share of the spoils after they saw a 1-0 lead disappear.
Weah completed 91% of his passes and won five duels at right back, continuing in his starting role under Roberto De Zerbi. The 25-year-old offered little in the final third, but did deliver a strong defensive showing.
Both teams continue their league schedules next weekend with Weah and Marseille visiting Lille on December 5. McKenzie and Toulouse will return home to take on Strasbourg a day later.
In Italy, Weston McKennie and Juventus earned a home victory over Cagliari. Christian Pulisic did not feature for AC Milan. Jonathan Klinsmann earned Man of the Match honors in Cesena’s home triumph.

Balagon is a better fit than Pepe with the USMNT. NOTHING AGAINST PEPE- it is just Balagon is better at running the channels and hold up play. Pepe can be the super sub off the bench after the 60th minute. Even Haji Wright is better in the system they are running under Pooch. It just requires more than just being a normal striker and Wright and Balagon are better at filling all the requirements as of now. Time will tell and form will win out in the end so don’t give up hope and stay fit Ricardo!
Coleman Campbell put transfer request in to leave Borussia Dortmond. Shame on BD for not giving him more playing time.
I wonder how real the interest was in the fall. The clubs said to be interested in August were much bigger clubs than those named now. Or did he hurt his stock that much at U20 WC.
——————-
Sahin was much more offense first and was bringing Cole along. When he got canned Kovac went to 5 defenders to right the ship, the wingers had to become WBs. That fits physical guys like Tim Weah doesn’t really fit Campbell. Generally Kovac’s teams have been boring to watch but with better results. Sadly I don’t see a spot for Mathis Albert in Kovac’s system either so I don’t think we’ll see a post U17 WC promotion like Gio and Christian earned.
Ricardo Pepi just continues to improve. From his game against Liverpool (his ricochet shot that hit the bar and resulted in a goal) to his bicycle kick goal against Volendam he continues to show he should be in the mix FOR STARTING for the USMNT.
He looks stronger, faster, quicker with more stamina on the ball than earlier in his career…… love watching him play for PSV as “something” interesting always seems to happen (miss or goal) with him up top, absolutely love it
The only other match since the knee injury that he went 90 minutes in he reinjured himself the next match. His next step is can he make two successful starts in a row without injury.
Better get back on to Pepi’s El Tren. Its pulling out of the station and starting to pick up speed. Nice bicycle goal from him today.
I think a better sign is that he went 90 minutes. Only the 2nd time he’s gone a full match since January.
