Tyler Adams scores sensational long-range goal at Sunderland

U.S. men’s national team midfielder Tyler Adams delivered one of the goals of the season so far in the English Premier League.

Adams scored from 45-yards out in AFC Bournemouth’s 3-2 league defeat at Sunderland on Saturday. It marked the second goal of the season for Adams, who has continued to play a large role in Andoni Iraola’s squad this year.

Amine Adli gave the Cherries a perfect start at the Stadium of Light, slotting home a rebound after seven minutes.

Adams would dial his own number in the 15th minute, catching Black Cats goalkeeper Robin Roefs out of position. The USMNT midfielder raced past midfield before unleashing a long-range effort that Roefs watched land into the back of the net.

Despite Bournemouth’s strong start on Wearside, Sunderland would rally to cut the deficit before halftime. Enzo Le Fee scored from the penalty spot in the 30th minute, making it 2-1 with plenty of time to play.

Bertrand Traore equalized for Sunderland one minute into the second half before Brian Brobbey came off the bench to propel the hosts in front after the hour mark. Le Fee’s corner kick was headed home by Brobbey, giving Sunderland a 3-2 lead that it wouldn’t let slip away.

Adams played 71 minutes in the match, watching his wonder goal go to waste in the road defeat.

Winless in its last four matches, Bournemouth will face a quick turnaround with Everton coming to the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday.
