A dramatic six-goal thriller from Pittodrie saw American midfielder Dante Polvara and Aberdeen share the spoils in midweek Scottish Premiership action.
Polvara scored his second goal of the season and first in league play as Aberdeen tied St. Mirren 3-3 on Wednesday. The veteran midfielder tied the match at 1-1 in the 71st minute, scoring with a left-footed finish for his first goal since August.
Despite a strong 90-minute outing from Polvara, Aberdeen couldn’t hang on to a late 3-2 advantage as St. Mirren equalized in the ninth minute of second-half stoppage time.
Polvara was one of the top performers of the match, winning 12 duels, registering three shots on target, and completing two tackles. The 25-year-old has now made 19 appearances for the club this season, boosting his chances of potentially earning a new contract ahead of his May 31 expiration.
Seventh-place Aberdeen will next visit Dundee FC on Saturday before resuming UEFA Conference League action next week.
In England, Tyler Adams and Bournemouth lost at home to Everton.
In Italy, Weston McKennie and Juventus advanced in Coppa Italia play. Gianluca Busio did not feature in Venezia’s thumping defeat to Inter Milan.
In Germany, James Sands got the last laugh in a head-to-head battle with Joe Scally and Gio Reyna. Malik Tillman came off the bench to help Bayer Leverkusen past Borussia Dortmund.
Elsewhere, Auston Trusty and Celtic downed Dundee FC at home. Jonathan Amon and Vejle suffered a first leg loss to Viborg in Danish Cup play. Erik Palmer-Brown did not feature in Panathinaikos’ Greek Cup victory.
