Antonee Robinson “is getting better”, Fulham has no timescale for return

Fulham will continue to be without star left back Antonee Robinson, but he’s making progress in his injury recovery.

Robinson is training individually ahead of a long-awaited return, Fulham manager Marco Silva confirmed after the club’s weekend defeat to Tottenham. The U.S. men’s national team defender has been sidelined since September 28 after suffering a new issue with a lingering knee problem.

Robinson has been reduced to only four appearances this season after offseason knee surgery last spring caused the veteran fullback to miss time during the first half of the campaign. His absence has led to Ryan Sessegnon locking down the left back job for the Cottagers, while Max Arfsten has earned the most opportunities with the USMNT.

While there is no timetable for Robinson’s return, Silva did reveal that he is improving on his fitness.

“Not yet, but he is getting better,” Silva said when asked about Robinson’s availability. “He is getting good feelings but is doing individual work, nice to see him on the pitch. He is getting better and more confident. Not just about his knees but his mindset. Soon we can have more news, but right now we have no timescale.”

“We are positive that when he [Robinson] is back, it will not be with setbacks, because we need him and he can be a very good ‘signing’ for us in the second half of the season,” Silva added.

The 28-year-old is nearing the 200-appearance plateau for Fulham, sitting just seven appearances away.

Fulham has lost its last two league matches to Tottenham and Manchester City respectively heading into Sunday’s London Derby against Crystal Palace. A return to action before 2026 begins would be important for Robinson and Fulham, especially with the club sitting in the bottom half of the league standings.

  1. Looks like Cade Cowell is headed to the NY RedBulls. Could turn out to be a very good move for him and signing for NY. Playing under Michael Bradley who is the leading candidate for the HC job. Cade can provide options at all.of their attacking positions.

  2. Everton is making noises like they want Robinson in January and seem willing to shell out serious poundage to get him.

It’d be interesting if Fulham sells. This looks like a survival year to me; they’re not going to get relegated with their current roster unless the season just completely falls apart on them but they’re probably going to finish bottom third, too. If you’ve got a blah season going and a 27-year-old asset you haven’t been using with a very large offer out on him, you probably move him while the offer is on the table and reload the war chest for new signings in the summer. Especially after a World Cup, player movement gets crazy and there will be a lot of guys out there for Fulham to get.
