Alyssa Thompson looks to have adjusted nicely to the Women’s Super League.
Thompson scored her fourth goal of the season in all competitions as Chelsea defeated Brighton & Hove Albion 3-0 on Sunday. The U.S. women’s national team attacker also assisted once in the result, helping the reigning champions stay six points behind of league-leading Manchester City.
Thompson set up Sandy Baltimore for Chelsea’s opening goal of the match in the 42nd minute, giving the Blues a 1-0 advantage.
After a Brighton own goal added to Chelsea’s advantage, Thompson capped off the final score at 3-0 with a composed one-time finish. Sam Kerr’s cross was redirected home by the 21-year-old for her first goal since November 16th.
Chelsea would claim its second-straight victory in all competitions, while Thompson sealed her latest productive performance.
Up next for Chelsea is a Women’s Champions League match at VfL Wolfsburg on Wednesday.
In England, Antonee Robinson impressed in his first Fulham appearance since late-September. George Campbell assisted once in West Bromwich Albion’s victory over Sheffield United. Alyssa Thompson scored her fourth goal of the season for Chelsea.

Donovan Pines scored his first goal for Grazer AK but it came in a losing effort against LASK. Jonathan Amon and Vejle suffered Danish Cup elimination. Another weekend and another goal for Pepi. Nice assist from Dest to Gus Til too.
McKennie shone once again today for Juventus. He should have had an assist, but it was called back for offsides when I thought it wasn’t. 3 or 4 times the commentator remarked something akin to “some real skill by McKennie.” Toward the end he remarked, “it doesn’t matter where you put him, McKennie gives his all. He is so very consistent.” Also, every game they show Juve and they show distance run, Wes has either gone the furthest or 2nd furthest.
Watched Augsburg and my first extended viewing of Banks. Thought he looked really good, he was solid defensively, fast, physical, very good on the ball. Had a goal called back for teammate offside by a whisker. He’s only 19 but already looks better than Scally at the same position in same league. Don’t know if he’s better than Miles or McKenzie, but Poch should call him in March to find out.
Yep. He has been good. Won’t be surprised if he makes the WC team.
Yeah, I was watching him for about thirty minutes a couple weeks ago. Saw the same thing. Kind of the same thing I saw with a young Chris Richards – smooth, athletic, good on the ball, excellent distribution…quality just jumped off the field at you.
I absolutely think he belongs in the pool. He’s emerging and it isn’t slow.
Still very early, not even halfway, but Coventry and Haji Wright and Middlesbrough with Aidan Morris are well positioned for promotion. Coventry +12 on 3rd place and Middlesbrough +7.
