Tyler Adams exits Bournemouth’s draw at Man United with apparent leg injury

Tyler Adams lasted only three minutes in Monday’s trip to Old Trafford.

The U.S. men’s national team midfielder was substituted off early in Bournemouth’s eventual 4-4 Premier League draw with Manchester United due to apparent leg injury. Adams walked off the pitch under his own power, after receiving one minute of treatment from Bournemouth’s medical staff.

Adams suffered the injury while blocking a Matheus Cunha shot less than two minutes into the match. The 26-year-old fell to the ground after he and Cunha made contact with the ball simultaneously.

Adams tried jogging it off on the sidelines, but was replaced after shaking his head in disappointment. England midfielder Alex Scott replaced him for the majority of the match.

Adams has continued to play a major role in Andoni Iraola’s squad this season, logging 15 appearances in all competitions. The U.S. men’s national team captain has scored two goals, one of which against Sunderland that later earned him Premier League Goal of the Month honors for November.

After an injury-riddled start to life on the South Coast in 2023-24, Adams excelled for the Cherries last season. He made 32 appearances for Bournemouth during the last campaign, logging three assists and helping the squad finish ninth in the league table.

Similar to his Bournemouth role, Adams has also remained key for the USMNT. He made eight appearances in 2025, with five of those coming in last summer’s CONCACAF Gold Cup.

However, he did not feature in the USMNT’s October or November international windows.

Iraola will hope that Adams’ injury is not a serious one as Burnley next visits the Vitality Stadium on Saturday. The Cherries will then close out their 2025 schedule with back-to-back road matches against Brentford and Chelsea respectively.

  1. It looked to me like he twisted his knee but he was able to walk off the pitch. Coincidentally, I twisted my knee about 3 weeks ago and was over it in a week or 10 days and I’m a whole lot older than Adams. Hopefully he won’t lose more than a week or so.,
