The U.S. men’s national team’s fourth and final pre-World Cup friendly has been decided.
African side Senegal will oppose Mauricio Pochettino’s men at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina on May 31, U.S. Soccer announced Thursday. The match will serve as the USMNT’s Continental Clasico match of 2026.
Senegal will be the USMNT’s penultimate opponent before World Cup play begins in June. The USMNT will host Germany on June 6 at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois for their sendoff match.
“We are so happy to have such a great team in Senegal as our fourth opponent in the matches leading up into the tournament,” Pochettino said. “In the year leading up to the World Cup, we will have played at least one team from five different confederations which is incredibly valuable for our preparations. We are looking forward to an amazing crowd in Charlotte.”
Senegal is currently ranked No. 19 in the latest FIFA Rankings and went unbeaten in CAF World Cup Qualifying. They earned seven wins while allowing just three goals over 10 matches. They are led by star forwards Sadio Mane and Ismaila Sarr.
It will mark the first-ever meeting between the USMNT and Senegal in international action.
The USMNT will also face Portugal and Belgium during the March international window, which are the program’s next matches overall.
