USWNT stays No. 2 in final FIFA Rankings of 2025

The U.S. women’s national team will close 2025 in the same FIFA ranking place that they’ve spent the last four months in.

Emma Hayes’ squad remained No. 2 in December’s FIFA rankings, the federation announced Thursday. The Americans ended the year on a four-match winning streak, outscoring their opposition 14-1 over that span.

Despite suffering a 2-1 loss to Portugal back on October 23, the USWNT rebounded to defeat Portugal 3-1 and New Zealand 6-0 in consecutive matches after that. Emma Sears registered a hat trick against New Zealand while Catarina Macario found the back of the net twice.

The Americans closed the year with back-to-back victories over Italy, with Macario scoring three goals over those two matches.

Spain remained in the top spot while Germany jumped to No. 3, England remained in the No. 4 spot, and Sweden dropped to No. 5.

Brazil, France, Japan, North Korea, and Canada rounded out the Top 10.

The USWNT’s 2026 schedule kicks off in California this coming January against Paraguay and Chile respectively.
