Middlesbrough is in the EFL Championship’s top-two race this season and having a fit and healthy Aidan Morris back should help the club in its quest.
Morris played 90 minutes on Sunday in Middlesbrough’s 4-0 home win over Southampton. The American midfielder only recently returned to action for the English second-tier side, but looks to be back to his old self again.
He won five duels, completed 93% of his passes (70/75), and made four defensive recoveries at the Riverside Stadium. Morris helped Kim Hellberg’s squad move back into second place in the league table, sitting six points back of first place Coventry City.
Following a busy schedule over the holiday period, Middlesbrough will now have a short break before traveling to Fulham in FA Cup play on Saturday.
Elsewhere, Brenden Aaronson scored in Leeds United’s home draw with Manchester United. Weston McKennie scored his second goal of the season for Juventus. Christian Pulisic featured off of the bench in AC Milan’s victory over Cagliari. Tanner Tessmann and Lyon defeated Folarin Balogun and Monaco in Ligue 1 play. Jordan Pefok scored in Tondela’s league victory over Arouca.
