The goals are continuing to come in this new year for American forward Patrick Agyemang.
Agyemang scored his second goal of 2026 and his eighth goal overall this season in Friday’s 1-1 EFL Championship draw with West Bromwich Albion. The U.S. men’s national team forward opened the scoring at Pride Park before a 96th-minute equalizer from West Brom’s Chris Mepham shared the spoils between the two clubs.
Agyemang boosted the host Rams in front before halftime, benefitting from an error from Baggies goalkeeper Max Leary. Leary failed to claim a corner kick ahead of first-half stoppage time, allowing Agyemang to pounce on the loose ball and slot home.
Derby County tried to hang on for a crucial three points at home but West Brom would strike at the death to earn itself one road point. Mepham headed home at the back post to make it 1-1, ending West Brom’s 11-match road losing streak in league play.
Agyemang now has eight goals and three assists in 27 appearances for the Rams since joining from Charlotte FC last summer.
Derby County will next travel to Bristol City on January 30, seeking to stay in the top-six picture.

Hope Hermano gets a nice deal from a top 5 league in the near future. Got Big Pat!
On a roll for 2026. He had some good moments in the game, but was visibly worn down by the 80th minute from the amount of running he did.
The whole team ran out of gas. They were dominating until the last 10 minutes, should have taken. 3 pts.

I watched Downs first half, basically non-existent.
But he took his chance when it came to him. Sometimes that happens to forwards. Look at the USMNT under the last coach: midfield and back line ball control generally isolating a single forward who was starved for service. That forward had to take the few chances he was given. Few did
MWRef: not sure if you misunderstood the comment. Agyemang only had one shot, which he finished but he was a problem for West Brom, causing danger by drawing defenders out of position. It was a good performance, but the team lost momentum the final 10 minutes and gave up a late goal.

Damion Downs was non existent for Hamburg. He had just 11 touches in 68 minutes. It was not just poor service as Downs rarely was able to create any separation from his marker to even play to. He hasn’t been able to “finish his chances” since April. Hopefully with the minutes he’s getting at Hamburg he can play out of his slump, but the worry is they won’t wait much longer since they’re in a relegation fight.
