Alyssa Thompson is continuing to find the back of the net at will in her debut WSL season.
Thompson scored her seventh goal of the season in all competitions on Sunday as Chelsea rebounded with a 2-0 league victory over London rivals Tottenham. The 21-year-old Thompson has now scored in back-to-back matches and overall has scored in four of her last six appearances.
Keira Walsh opened the scoring after 40 minutes for Chelsea before Thompson quickly doubled the Blues’ lead five minutes after halftime.
Sjoeke Nusken’s original shot was saved by Tottenham goalkeeper Lize Kop but Thompson arrived on the spot to slam home the rebound.
Thompson’s six league goals this season currently lead the squad.
Chelsea would hang on for a vital three points in its quest of repeating as league champions. The Blues sit third in the WSL table, nine points back of league-leading Manchester City following Sunday’s slate of matches.
Up next for Chelsea is a home date with Liverpool on February 15.
