Tyler Adams did not feature in Bournemouth’s Premier League trip to Burnley on Saturday.
Adams was kept out of the Cherries squad as a precaution for the weekend trip to Turf Moor, the Bournemouth Echo reported prematch on Saturday. He reportedly “felt something” in training this week, according to the report.
The 27-year-old has made 19 appearances for the club this season, scoring twice. Adams most recently made his return to action back on February 21 after missing two months due to a knee injury that he suffered last December.
He started in matches against West Ham United, Sunderland and Brentford respectively since returning to the match day squad.
Bearing any changes, Adams should be among Mauricio Pochettino’s call-ups for the U.S. men’s national team’s upcoming international window. The Americans will host Belgium and Portugal respectively in Atlanta later this month.
He earned eight caps in 2025 across all competitions after making just eight combined appearances between 2023-24 entirely.
Bournemouth’s final match before the international break comes on Friday at home against Manchester United.

We won’t be having our “full team” match fit for this World Cup. It hardly ever happens. Remember prior to 2002, Chris Armas was out maid d-mid, and does his knee right before the tourney. Greg Vanney comes in as a replacement, and in one of the warm up games prior to the tourney, gets injured. We bring in Cherundolo. Corey Gibbs did his knee prior to World Cup 2006. It’s going to happen. I hate that it happens, but I feel like supporters should realize that, we probably won’t have our “full team” come tournament time.
More i think about it the more I realize Adams will need to sit out games at the WC.
More I think about it, the more I realize you need to stop posting on SBI Soccer.
#DiarrheaOfTheMouth
Papi – dude? Bad day?
If this was supposed to be funny or sarcastic, I missed it.
A funny quote would have been something along the lines from Talladega Nights – Don’t you put that voodoo on me Ricky Bobby.
MidWest Ref,
No, not at all…quite the contrary…it was a cheery day. Warm weather, lots of sunshine, and blue skies…even made it to the beach.
Just compelled to call out the non-sensical bullshit when it continues to be posted over and over again…
Pulisic is better than Vini Jr.
Haji Wright is going to score over 40 goals
Ferree over Turner for this March camp and potentially the World Cup roster
Adams is going to need to take games off during this upcoming World Cup
Do you want me to keep going with more examples??
Here’s a novel idea…add something of value…ask a unique question…or provide an interesting unique nugget of information. Don’t keep exhibiting diarrhea of the mouth.
Or…the person can continue to do so and leave themselves at risk for being skewered.
Either way, it does not impact my day…it just presents me an opportunity to post feedback.
Interesting post 2tone. Even being fans and outsiders, it is clear that Adams is a strong personality in the locker-room. Would the USMNT be better with a 70-80% Adams – or leaving him out? The way he plays – always 100% – he is regularly risking aggravating a condition.
Do you start him against Paraguay, needing a good result in the first game, and risk him hurting his knee/hammy/groin for the rest of the tournament?
MWR,
“needing a good result in the first game, and risk him hurting his knee/hammy/groin for the rest of the tournament?”
There is no good answer. If he gets medically cleared he’s going.
Any of these players can get hurt at any time. Pulisic is breaking down at Milan in front of our eyes and there is no realistic replacement for him.
Any of these players can get hurt at any time. With their seasons having just concluded, our overseas playes are all beat up.
Adams, Pulisic, Dest, Jedi just to name four, if they get named to the team will come in the World Cup having recently recovered from what appear to be significant injuries. So the chances of them breaking down again, in a physically demanding tournament is high. On the other hand the MLS guys should have a lot less wear and tear on them, maybe.
And even if all 4 of them are recovered enough to play every game we can’t know how much their lack of game fitness and game sharpness affects their play.
The silver lining is that they do have more depth than usual so actual rotation may be helpfful.
They did a good job in Qatar but Gregg played all his regulars so much that by the time we played Netherlands they were mostly out of gas. Out of 26 players Jordan Morris play 4 minutes total. Luca de la Torre, Aaron Long ,Cristian Roldan, Joe Scally and the two keepers, Horvath & Johnson played zero minutes.
I suspect you’ll see more actual rotation this time.
MidWest Ref,
It is a World Cup tournament and to your point, a good result in the first game is paramount, but a good result is needed in all the games. The games in the group stage dictate the matchups and path for the knockout rounds…and the knockout rounds are win or go home…so all games necessitate a good result.
Playing soccer comes with an inherent risk for injury, and even more so at the professional level, so rotation at this World Cup is not the answer, nor is it a luxury this USMNT has. No matter what Pochettio says, there is a clear drop off from starters to backups. From one game to another, there may be a player, or two, or maybe even three, who rotate out as a result of a variety of factors…opponent, tactics, matchups, injury, yellow card accumulation, or a red card…but there will not be wholesale changes. The exception being, if we are sitting on 6 points going into the third game and are certain of winning the group, then you may see wholesale changes.
For context, look no farther than Sebastian Berhalter. This past November, he played great vs Uruguay in a friendly. That said, Uruguay were missing up to 6 potential starters, and playing Uruguay in a World Cup is a whole different level than playing them in a friendly. In that game, Berhalter’s had a very good performance, and in doing so, he repaid Pochettino, and the USMNT coaching staff, as a whole, for their faith in him.
But make no mistake about it, come this World Cup, when the team needs a good result in game two, if Adams is healthy, he is starting, not Berhalter, because Pochettino knows that gives the team the best chance of getting a good result.
MWR,
Brazil, Germany, Italy, Argentina, France, Uruguay, England, Spain
They are the only countries that have won the World Cup. One big reason so few have done it is because the “big boys” are the only countries with the depth to withstand injuries.
The best players mostly play in Europe and the World Cup comes at the end of the season where these players have spent all season beating each other up. Injured players should surprise no one.
But the “big boys” may have 22 starter level players. For example.in Qatar, France lost the Ballon D’or winner Karim Benzema to injury in training just days before the first World Cup game. They still went on to make the final and lose to Argentina.
Tyler’s importance is unquestioned but what is in question is can Tyler play 4-8 games at his normal level? He has a relentless, uncompromisng style. It is difficult to sustain that intensity over so many tough games in such a short time span. He was a limp dish rag in Qatar in the Netherlands game, the 4th game. It was clear he was out of gas. Whether that is Tessman, Berhalter, Morris, Roldan or whoever, ideal or not Adams is going to need a break.
And he is not the only one. Pulisic will have a big target on his back from the opening whistle.
Dude, the best attribute can have is availability. My man has got me concerned.
