Juventus’ current unbeaten run in Serie A continued on Monday with the Bianconeri taking another step towards sealing a return to the UEFA Champions League.
Weston McKennie scored his ninth goal of the season across all competitions in Juventus’ 2-0 home victory over Genoa. The result extended the Bianconeri’s unbeaten run to five matches in league play and six matches overall.
Gleison Bremer opened the scoring for Luciano Spalletti’s squad after four minutes, heading home Lloyd Kelly’s cross into the back of the net.
McKennie doubled the hosts lead in the 17th minute, adding his name to the scoresheet. Juventus started an upfield attack all the way from its own defensive half with McKennie eventually one-timing a pass from Francisco Conceicao into the bottom-left corner.
It marked McKennie’s first goal since February 28 and his 14th goal contribution of the campaign.
Juventus would hang on for a vital three points, moving one point back of fourth-place Como in the race for a UCL spot.
McKennie also won one duel, made four defensive clearances, and five recoveries in a solid 90-minute shift from his attacking midfield position. He was named Player of the Match, earning his latest honor for the club.
The Bianconeri have seven league matches remaining this season and will next travel to Atalanta on April 11.

Mckennie got a goal in this game but could have gotten a hattrick!!!! He was alive and got where he needed to be…..just couldn’t finish!!!! The kid scores the hardest of his chances, a pass from Conceição which he buried with a well placed one timer in the far left corner……but misses a WIDE OPEN chance in front of goal from Yildiz’s pass in the 43rd min (and I mean wild out lol) and also another one, receiving a pass from Thuram, in the 47th min.
The USMNT needs him to be sharper than he’s ever been in order to make an impact in this upcoming World Cup
Does his best work in the box coming as a late arriving CM.
I can’t remember who said this on TV, but he described Juventus as McKennie and 10 other guys. An exaggeration, sure, but considering all the different positions he has played, his output has been incredibly impactful.
It was mentioned in the IS broadcast … Kyle Martini was quoting someone else (coach or analyst) in the Italian media.
Pochettino said it in his roster announcement press conference on March 17.
For all the Pochettino hyperbole Yildaz has 14g 10a so Weston isn’t the only one carrying The Old Lady this season. Bremer certainly deserves a nod along with Wes and Yildaz as their best player, it was 2-1 Juve when Bremer was injured vs Galatasaray. 2-7 in the 176 minutes without him (plus a 2-0 loss to Como).
