Lyon capped off its Premiere Ligue Feminine campaign in winning fashion on Wednesday, making it back-to-back seasons without a defeat.
Korbin Shrader scored Lyon’s opening goal while Romane Rafalski and Ashley Lawrence also added goals in a 3-1 season finale victory over Montpellier. The result gave Lyon a 19-3-0 record in the 22-match season and 60 points earned en route to a fifth-consecutive league title.
Lyon last suffered a league defeat back on May 8, 2024.
Shrader opened the scoring in the ninth minute by delivering her ninth goal of the season in all competitions. The U.S. women’s national team midfielder made the move from Paris Saint-Germain last summer and delivered by setting a new career-high in goals and assists.
Rafalski doubled the hosts lead to 2-0 only four minutes later, giving them a comfortable lead for most of the match.
Judith Coquet pulled one goal back for Montpellier with 15 minutes to go but Lyon would an insurance tally through Lawrence’s late finish. Fellow USWNT midfielder Lily Yohannes assisted on Lawrence’s goal, giving the 18-year-old her 12th goal contribution of the campaign.
Lindsey Heaps also made a second-half appearance, joining Yohannes in playing the final 27 minutes of the match.
Shrader was replaced by Heaps, earning a deserved rest ahead of Lyon’s Coupe De France Final date on Saturday against PSG in Valenciennes.
Lyon will seek to complete a domestic double on Saturday before taking on Barcelona in the UEFA Women’s Champions League Final on May 23.
