Timothy Weah made an impact off the bench once again for Scottish Premier League side Celtic on Sunday.

The U.S. Men’s National Team forward assisted on his side’s eventual winning goal before scoring his second league goal of the season in a 2-0 success over St. Johnstone.

After coming on in the 74th minute, Weah set up James Forrest four minutes later which broke the deadlock at McDiarmid Park.

Weah showed great composure in the dying moments as he slotted in his third goal of the season for the Scottish Champions.

Despite a stoppage time red card to Kristoffer Ajer, Celtic hung on to extend their lead to six points over Glasgow rivals Rangers.

For Weah, he now has four points in five appearances across all competitions. The 18-year-old will now aim for a starting spot for Wednesday’s league showdown against Hibernian.

  1. Not to rain too much on the parade, it is a good start I hope to see him with USMNT in March, but …
Tim Weah first 5 matches for Celtic 3 goals 1 assist
Emerson Hyndman first 5 matches for Rangers 2 goals 2 assists

People discredit Nova and Jozy because their big goal seasons came in the Netherlands and “they don’t play defense”, watch the defending on Weah’s highlights today it is terrible. I remember some of the Hyndman Rangers highlights were similar. Even Zelalem had 5 assists in his first month in Scotland (7 matches in 2nd division).

    • Totally agree with your tangent Johnny. Weah goals are tap ins on counters, with the exception of his slick toe toouch on a great run.
A big part of life is showing up! Every match Weah has made a difference. Another life lesson is you don’t know unless you ask! Weah is asking a lot of questions and providing answers. If these scenarios continue this loan spell will be a huge success and Weah will have the on the field reps to take another step up in competition.

    • See the entire match, and like many things in media today, you will get a different picture. Celtic was unable to break down St.Mirren defense. Timo made an immediate impact by creating space with his speed and touches that made defense look poor. The goalie and defenders were well organized until then. Celtic had 17 shots, 7 on target, and his assist and goals were the only ones that went in. On his second goal, Celtic were down to 9 men.

Certainly SPL is not La Liga or EPL, but what Timo displayed would be difficult to defend at any level.

And, he gave his jersey to a youngster in the crowd after the game. Class act!
