Christian Pulisic returned to Thomas Tuchel’s starting lineup on Saturday and delivered a strong shift in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Pulisic registered his first 90 minutes since March 5, assisting once in the four-goal thriller at Stamford Bridge. The U.S. men’s national team attacker has been pushing to get back into the Blues starting lineup and certainly boosted his stock this weekend. Pulisic set up Romelu Lukaku’s second goal of the match, playing a through ball up the middile of the field and allowing the Belgian to pick up possession before scoring past Jose Sa.
Pulisic finished the match by creating the most chances of any player (4), winning seven of his 14 duels, and winning two tackles. Tuchel will be disappointed with his squad conceding two late goals, but should be happy after Pulisic’s strong return to the starting XI.
In England, Jesse Marsch’s Leeds United fell 2-1 at Arsenal, moving the Yorkshire club into the relegation zone. Duane Holmes and Ethan Horvath will now prepare for the EFL Championship playoffs after their respective clubs learned their opponents after Saturday’s regular season finales. Lynden Gooch and Sunderland earned a 1-0 first leg win over Sheffield Wednesday in the League One Playoffs.
In Scotland, James Sands logged his first 90 minutes for Rangers since March 13 in a 2-0 league win over Dundee United. Cameron Carter-Vickers also went 90 for league-leaders Celtic in a 4-1 romp over Hearts.
In Germany, John Brooks continued to rack up minutes for Wolfsburg in a 1-0 victory over Mainz. George Bello’s own goal condemned Arminia Bielefeld to a 2-1 league loss to Bochum, moving the Bundesliga side ever closer to possible relegation.
In Argentina, Alan Sonora scored for the second match in a row as Independiente rolled past Huracan 3-0 in league action.
Elsewhere, Jordan Pefok suffered a leg injury in Young Boys’ 3-1 road loss to Lugano in Switzerland. Yunus Musah started for Valencia in a scoreless draw with Athletic Bilbao. Brenden Aaronson played 45 minutes off of the bench in Red Bull Salzburg’s 4-0 league victory.

I can’t wait to see Haji Wright in June. Dude is on freaking fire right now.
Thanks for this. It’s getting to be a pretty exhaustive list, and that is awesome for US soccer. I counted around 25 guys playing in the top 5 European leagues, although some are injured, some don’t play regularly, etc. But that’s not even counting quality players like A. Robinson and CCV in the lower divisions/leagues. Should be great for the USMNT in the future.
