Americans Abroad Weekend Preview: Adams, Ream, and more

Leeds United’s survival hopes in the English Premier League are looking bleak, but a home victory over fellow strugglers Southampton could be a major spark in the Yorkshire club’s season.

Tyler Adams and the rest of his Leeds United teammates will try and snap a 10-match winless run in league action on Saturday at Elland Road. A bottom-two showdown with Southampton is the latest test for Leeds United, who fell 1-0 last weekend at Everton. Javi Gracia has agreed to become the new manager of the Lilywhites, but interim boss Michael Skubala could be on the sidelines once again if Gracia’s work permit is not obtained in time.

Adams has been one of the few bright spots for Leeds United this season, totaling 21 league appearances and laying it all on the field for the historic club. Adams might need to deliver another stellar performance in order to keep Southampton playmaker James Ward-Prowse off the scoresheet at Elland Road.

Elsewhere in England, Tim Ream, Antonee Robinson, and Fulham face off with Wolves on Friday. Chris Richards will fight to start for Crystal Palace against Liverpool. Daryl Dike and Zack Steffen meet in EFL Championship action.

In Spain, Yunus Musah and Valencia square off with Real Sociedad.

In Scotland, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Celtic meet Malik Tillman, James Sands and Rangers in the League Cup Final from Hampden Park.

In France, Tim Weah and Lille kick off the weekend schedule on Friday against Brest. Folarin Balogun and Stade Reims welcome Toulouse to town.

Elsewhere, Alex Mendez and FC Vizela host Benfica in Portuguese league action. Mark McKenzie and Genk aim to re-extend their lead at the top of the Belgian league standings. Joe Gyau and Degerfors continue their cup schedule in Sweden. Johnny Cardoso and Internacional resume their Gaucho schedule in Brazil.

  1. Nations league will be shown on Paramount. TNT and HBO max only show friendlies. Don’t know why they would say they would be broadcasting those games.

    • Now listed on USSoccer.com as on TNT. Paramount might still have the NL Final Four but it appears they’ve lost the group stage matches.

    • On checking my own Paramount+ app, it has Concacaf Nations League returns March 23, but no matches are listed. I assume they still hold the broadcast rights for the other countries matches but not the USMNT. Perhaps Ives could let us know if we’ll see him working for CBS/Paramount this summer at the finals.

  2. Doesn’t really fit here, but we had a question as to what outlet now had the rights to NL matches in March. TNT said they would be broadcasting both the Grenada and El Salvador matches during the women’s match last night.
