With several of Europe’s top leagues closing in on the end of their season, the top-four races are continuing to heat up across the board.
The Serie A schedule pushes on with Juventus hosting league-leaders Napoli in the headlining match this weekend. After being eliminated from the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals, Napoli will fight to bounce back and continue its historic league run against one of the modern day title holders.
Juventus was on the outside of the European qualification places until Thursday’s decision to reverse their 15-point deduction. The Old Lady are now up to third place and will be seeking revenge following a 5-1 loss to Napoli in January.
The English Premier League title quest continues with league-leaders Arsenal hosting last place Southampton. The Gunners continue their quest to capture their first league title in 19 years with a perfect opportunity to collect three points against a Southampton side struggling to avoid the drop.
Arsenal leads Manchester City in the EPL title race by three points with the Citizens off from league play this weekend due to FA Cup involvement. The Gunners dropped crucial points in their last two matches, tying West Ham and Liverpool. Despite dropping points in back-to-back league matches, Mikel Arteta and his side still control their own destiny and will travel to the Etihad Stadium next week.
Fourth meets fifth in the EPL as well as Newcastle United takes on Tottenham. Only three points separate Sunday’s opponents with St. James Park surely to be rocking for this crucial head-to-head showdown. Newcastle’s five-match winning run ended last weekend at Villa Park while Tottenham’s five-match unbeaten run was also ended after a disappointing home loss to Bournemouth.
In Spain, Barcelona is in prime position to capture its 27th La Liga title this season, but cannot start slipping on results. The Spanish giants go into Sunday’s match with Atletico Madrid holding a 11-point lead on second place Real Madrid.
Diego Simeone and his side visit Camp Nou undefeated in their last 11 league matches, hoping to extend their streak and put pressure on Barcelona.

1. Juventus v Napoli – League leader Napoli tops Serie A with 75 points heading into its fixture with seventh place Juventus on Sunday. Juventus needs a statement win to boost its slim hopes of returning to European action next fall.
2. Arsenal v Southampton – After dropping points in its last two league matches, Arsenal hosts last place Southampton in hopes of returning to form. The Gunners top the league with 74 points and will hope for a jolt of confidence heading into next week’s midweek trip at Manchester City.
3. Newcastle United v Tottenham – Fourth place Newcastle United host fifth place Tottenham Hotspur in a match with Champions League implications. Both teams witnessed their unbeaten runs come to an end last weekend and will be laying it all on the line at St. James Park.
4. Barcelona v Atletico Madrid – Xavi and his Barcelona squad face a difficult test with Atletico Madrid visiting Camp Nou. Atletico is undefeated in its last 11 league matches, sitting two points off of second place. Back-to-back goal-less draws for Barcelona will have fans a bit on edge knowing Real Madrid can turn it on behind them.
5. Bayer Leverkusen v RB Leipzig – In Germany, RB Leipzig visits Bayer Leverkusen in a top-table battle in a tight Bundesliga showdown. RB Leipzig has won its last two head-to-head meetings with Leverkusen, including a 1-0 road result last April.
