The latest chapter of Dave Sarachan’s coaching career will take him to Israel.

Sarachan has joined Maccabi Tel Aviv as an assistant coach, the club announced. The 69-year-old previously served as head coach of the Puerto Rico national team from 2021-22 and was U.S. men’s national team interim head coach from 2017-18.

Sarachan joins Robbie Keane’s staff in Israel, which also features Rory Delap and Graham Stack.

Sarachan was released by USL League One side North Carolina Courage in January 2022 after two years at the helm. Despite posting a winning record in each of his two seasons in charge, Sarachan was not brought back for a third season, which led to his eventual move to Puerto Rico.

Sarachan has also served as an assistant coach with the USMNT from 1999-2002 and also in 2017 before his move to interim head coach. He was also a former head coach of the Chicago Fire from 2002-07, as well as an assistant with both DC United and the L.A. Galaxy.

Maccabi Tel Aviv finished third in the Premier League standings, clinching it a spot in the UEFA Europa Conference League second qualifying round this summer. The club has won 23 league titles, but none since 2020.
