USMNT stays at No. 16 in October’s FIFA Rankings

The U.S. men’s national team’s unbeaten October window did not guarantee them a raise in FIFA’s latest rankings.

Mauricio Pochettino’s squad remained at No. 16 in October’s rankings, FIFA announced Friday. It marked the second-straight rankings in which the USMNT sat at No. 16.

The USMNT rallied to tie Ecuador 1-1 before also fighting back to defeat Australia 2-1 in friendly play. Folarin Balogun scored the USMNT’s equalizer in Austin, Texas while Haji Wright scored twice in the comeback victory over the Socceroos.

The pair of results came against two nations that are currently ranked in FIFA’s Top-30.

Mexico also stayed at the No. 14 spot while Canada and Panama were among the big movers for CONCACAF nations.

The overall top three remained the same as Spain, France, and Argentina led the way.

Pochettino’s squad will conclude 2025 with a pair of home friendlies against Paraguay and Uruguay in November. Both CONMEBOL nations have already qualified for next summer’s FIFA World Cup.
