Josh Sargent back available for Norwich City

Norwich City will have the services of Josh Sargent when it resumes its league schedule on Friday.

Sargent has been deemed fit and available for the Canaries’ Good Friday EFL Championship showdown with Plymouth Argyle, manager David Wagner confirmed Wednesday. The U.S. men’s national team missed international duty due to an ankle injury, but is back and ready to go for the Canares.

“We are expecting him to be part of the matchday squad, yes,” Wagner said on Sargent, transcribed by Pink UN. “HeĀ hasĀ trained a few sessions this week, not all of them, but we are used to it in recent weeks and months. We have to deal with the situation.”

Sargent was called into Gregg Berhalter’s 23-player U.S. men’s national team earlier this month, but was forced to withdraw following his ankle injury. The 24-year-old scored in a 3-0 league triumph against Stoke City before being substituted off in the second half.

Sargent has been stellar for Norwich City this season, scoring 14 goals in total, with 10 of them coming in 2024.

The sixth-place Canaries are hanging onto the final promotion playoff spot, sitting three points ahead of Hull City.
