Reigning Scottish Premiership winners Celtic made it back-to-back victories to begin their title defense.
Cameron Carter-Vickers logged 90 minutes in defense as Brendan Rodgers’ squad defeated Hibernian 2-0 at Easter Road on Sunday. The U.S. men’s national team defender has continued to hold down a starting spot for Celtic and he helped them register their first clean sheet of the new campaign on Sunday.
Carter-Vickers won seven of his eight duels, made six clearances, and two interceptions as Celtic held Hibernian to zero shots on target. The former Tottenham product remains a key member of the squad and Rodgers will hope Carter-Vickers stays healthy long-term this season.
These two sides will meet again next weekend at Celtic Park in the second round of the Scottish League Cup.
In England, Aidan Morris made his Middlesbrough debut in a 1-0 win over Swansea City. Brenden Aaronson scored the tying goal for Leeds United in a 3-3 home draw vs. Portsmouth.
In Holland, Malik Tillman scored a beauty in PSV’s dominant win over RKC Waalwijk. Richie Ledezma made his first club start since November 2022.

Andrija Novakovich is on loan to Bari in Serie B. He played 18 minutes and converted his pk in Bari’s 1-1 penalty shootout loss to Cremonese. I can’t make this up he subbed in for a guy named Kevin Lasagne.
I believe Kevin Lasagna used to be a full Italy international. He was with Hellas Verona, I think, last I knew.
Tasty player.
Reynolds starting strong foe Westerlo.
I wonder if Fossey will start getting looks for the US for RB as well with Dest out.
Paxten starting strong
