Tanner Tessmann is still fresh in his Lyon career but the American midfielder already earned one of his more impressive results in Europe.
Tessmann came off the bench and played 23 minutes in Lyon’s 2-0 Europa League victory over Olympiakos. The former Venezia man entered the match with only five minutes under his belt for his new club, but proceeded to help Lyon earn a crucial three points at home.
Tessmann made one interception, one clearance, and completed six passes in his short cameo. With the season continuing on, Tessmann should see added playing time across all competitions.
Lyon resumes Ligue 1 play on Sunday against Mark McKenzie and Toulouse.
Elsewhere, Kristoffer Lund and Palermo suffered Coppa Italia elimination.

Something is sus with Luca De La Torre. Talk in the Spanish media before the season was that he was out – not going to be part of the team going forward. There was also talk of ankle “discomfort”. Then he comes into USMNT camp and he plays in both games scoring his first USMNT goal. He returns to Celta and is said to have an ankle injury sustained during nats camp despite having played the last 45 of the window. Hmmmm…
Johnny went 90 last night for Betis.
