Cade Cowell looks set to return to action with Liga MX Chivas de Guadalajara this weekend.
Cowell, who had been sidelined for the past month due to a muscular injury, returned to training Tuesday. The U.S. men’s national team forward last appeared at club level on August 31 before missing the next five matches.
Cowell enjoyed a positive start to the season, winning the Liga MX Player of the Month award for July. He scored three goals and added one assist in four appearances, helping Chivas earn two wins and one draw over that span.
However, Chivas struggled in Cowell’s absence, losing three of those five matches.
Cowell, who featured in both of the USMNT’s September friendlies, was forced to miss out on Mauricio Pochettino’s first window as head coach.
Chivas resumes Liga MX play on Saturday against Pachuca.
