Americans Abroad Weekend Rewind: Aaronson, Wright, and more

A perfect week for Dutch Eredivisie club FC Utrecht was capped off on Sunday.

Paxten Aaronson scored his third league goal of the campaign as FC Utrecht defeated Sparta Rotterdam 4-1 away from home. The Eintracht Frankfurt loanee has continued to rack up the minutes this fall, logging his latest 90 minutes for the third-place club.

After Victor Jensen opened the scoring in the first half, Miguel Rodriguez doubled Utrecht’s lead with five minutes to play. Aaronson extended the visitors lead three minutes later with a right-footed strike before Mike van Der Hoorn capped off the dominant win in stoppage time.

Aaronson, 21, also won five duels, drew one foul, and completed two dribbles from his midfield position. He now has three goals and one assist in 10 league appearances for the club.

FC Utrecht’s final match before the November international break comes on Nov. 8 against Heracles.

  1. If you all get a chance look this guy up Herbert Garcia-Robinson. He played in Lig Mex I found him on FIFA 16. I got a Johnny Cardoso Real Betis mod and Tab Ramos is the coach and i have Joe Scally on loan at Real Betis from Borussia Monchengladbach him and Isco and I light teams up. Not sure Herbert Garcia-Robinson background. Think he Black American Pamunkey Indigenous from Virginia and Indigenous Mexican descent.

    • He’s been out of soccer since 2019 according to Transfermkt. He only played 2 cup games with Santos all his other time was with Tampico in 2nd Div but didn’t play much there either. Transfermkt listed him as USA U20 but he never apparently played any matches as far as I can find. He played a lot for Santos youth team in 2015 so Ea probably thought he’d make the first team in 2016 and included him. I’m guessing 2016 was before roster updates so he just stayed in the game.

      • Thanks for that JR, never heard of the guy, until I got my fifa 2016 ps3 deluxe edition in 2022. I also saw he was only called up to USA men youth camps.

  2. Chase Carrera remember the name…..this kid is amazing. THIS IS THE MENTALITY 85% OF THE USMNT PLAYERS NEED TO HAVE RIGHT HERE. Absolute dedication to your craft in order to succeed. Absolutely amazing and he’s only 12 years old!!!!!!!

    • Your video is 4 years old, he’s 16 now. He’s not with any MLS Academy, which is probably not a great sign but he does play for Shattuck’s which is a soccer team with a school attached in MLS Next. Compare him to Cavan Sullivan already in MLS or Mathis Albert playing for Dortmund’s U19s both are only 15. According to their website Shattuck’s has 99% placement rate with D1s but it doesn’t look like Chase Carrera is headed to stardom anytime soon.

  3. US U17 Women finish 3rd at U17 WC defeating England 3-0. Our 2nd best finish ever and best since the inaugural in 2008. Kennedy Fuller the US leading scorer is a regular with Angel City. Kudos to Katie Schoepfer and her staff. Since 2023 WC: WNT Olympics 1st, U20 WC 3rd, U17 WC 3rd. Amazing how differently things look 14 months later.
