Fulham was staring a West London Derby defeat in the face on Monday night until Harry Wilson came off the bench to help the Cottagers steal three points at the death.
Wilson scored twice in stoppage time as Marco Silva’s squad defeated Brentford 2-1 at Craven Cottage. U.S. men’s national team left back Antonee Robinson set up Wilson’s winner in the 97th minute, capping off a strong individual performance from the left back.
The result marked Fulham’s first Premier League victory since September 28.
Thomas Frank’s men grabbed a 1-0 first-half lead through Vitaly Janelt’s finish in the 24th minute.
However, Brentford’s constant defensive resistance was eventually broken down as Wilson netted the equalizing goal in the 92nd minute. Adama Traore’s cross from the right wing was flicked home into the top-left corner, giving Fulham its tying goal and momentum to go after the winner.
Bernd Leno denied former Fulham player Fabio Carvalho later in stoppage time before Robinson and Wilson connected for the winner. Robinson’s cross from the left wing was headed home by Wilson, giving Fulham an important three points at home.
The 27-year-old created three offensive chances, completed four dribbles, and won five duels in his latest 90-minute shift.
Robinson will prepare for his final club outing against fellow London rivals Crystal Palace on November 9 before expected USMNT duty. The USMNT faces Jamaica in the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals on Nov. 14 and 18 respectively.
Jedi Robinson is a beast. Being that dynamic and switched on that late in the game is amazing…..thats why he’s among the top Left-backs in the league
