Folarin Balogun to miss four months following shoulder surgery

Folarin Balogun already missed two months of AS Monaco’s season due to a dislocated shoulder and will now be sidelined for another four.

Monaco manager Adi Hutter confirmed the news ahead of the club’s midweek Ligue 1 clash with Paris Saint-Germain. Balogun underwent surgery last week to repair a dislocated shoulder and isn’t expected back earlier than March 2025.

“He will be operated on tomorrow,” said Hütter during his press conference. “He will be out for four months”.

Balogun missed most of October and November due to his shoulder injury which was suffered in Ligue 1 action. He scored in three-consecutive club appearances but missed the last two international windows following his injury.

He now is expected to miss the USMNT’s CONCACAF Nations League involvement next March. The Americans face Panama in the semifinal round as they aim to repeat as tournament winners.

Balogun’s next potential opportunity to feature for the USMNT would come at the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup next summer.

Ricardo Pepi, Josh Sargent, Haji Wright, and Brandon Vazquez are the likely striking candidates with Balogun on the sidelines.
