Adams, Richards among seven American players left in FA Cup

A total of seven American players still have dreams of lifting the FA Cup this May.

Tyler Adams, Chris Richards, and Ethan Horvath are among the seven American players remaining in this season’s competition. The Round of 16 is set to take place during the weekend of March 1.

Adams and Bournemouth advanced 2-0 past Everton and will next welcome Wolves to Vitality Stadium in the next round. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder went the distance against the Toffees.

Richards logged 90 minutes in Crystal Palace’s 2-0 road win over Doncaster Rovers on Monday. Fellow USMNT teammate Matt Turner registered a four-save clean sheet. The pair will prepare for a London Derby against Millwall in the Round of 16.

Horvath made three saves as Cardiff City outlasted Stoke City 4-2 in penalty kicks on Saturday. The Bluebirds will aim to pull a major upset in the Round of 16, traveling to Aston Villa.

Antonee Robinson will seek his first appearance of this season’s competition when Fulham travels to Manchester United. Robinson did not feature in victories over Watford and Wigan Athletic.

Duane Holmes and Luca Koleosho will square off in the Round of 16 as Preston North End takes on Burnley. Holmes and Preston defeated Wycombe Wanderers 4-2 on spot kicks after the two teams played out a 0-0 draw.

Koleosho, who is currently sidelined, did not feature in Burnley’s 1-0 road victory over Southampton. He has not yet debuted for the USMNT despite being eligible.

  1. I doubt Koleosho ever plays woth the USMNT, he seems hell bent on representing Italy’s senior team. The question I’ve wondered for awhile now regarding him is, even if he gets and accepts a call up, does he even play? He’s not better than any of our starters, and are we sure he’s better than the backups?

    • I mean he’s only 20. Tim Weah at 20 had 4g for Celtic and was coming off missing most of his first season with Lille. Tillman was still playing for Bayern II. Richards went on his first loan to Hoffenheim. Of course Clint Dempsey was still at Furman. So no I don’t think he gets much for minutes today but if he can make a big jump between 20-22 like those guys did he certainly could. Personally I think he ends up with Canada because Jesse is the most likely to promise him WC minutes.

    • Koleosho is in that category of “promising raw material”.

Going forward he could be something great or he could be Robbie Findley.

Findley wasn’t totally awful but he wasn’t what everyone wanted him to be i.e. the next Charlie Davies.

People seem to think Koleosho is going to be at the level of challenging CP and Weah. Maybe someday but it probably won’t be immediately. You need more than being fast as shit.

That just goes to show you how much people take Christian and Timo for granted. The USMNT’s best chance at getting him is that I don’t see why Italy would want him.

JR is right, he has Canada written all over him.
