Emmanuel Sabbi is reportedly the next American talent that could make his move to MLS from Europe.
The Vancouver Whitecaps are reportedly nearing a deal to acquire Sabbi from Ligue 1 side Le Havre for approximately €1 million, Foot Mercato reported Wednesday. Sabbi, 27, has made 16 appearances this season for Le Havre, but has failed to record a goal or assist.
Sabbi has made 49 appearances for Le Havre since moving from Denmark, scoring five goals.
The U.S. men’s national team winger came through the ranks of Danish side Hobro before eventually moving to Odense. Sabbi enjoyed goalscoring success at Odense, tallying 21 goals in 89 appearances.
However, Sabbi has struggled to find similar success in France over the past two seasons.
Vancouver finished eighth in the Western Conference last season and have lost several attacking pieces this offseason.
