The CONCACAF Champions Cup rolls on with a pair of U.S. men’s national team hopefuls squaring off in the Round of 16.
Alex Zendejas and Club America visit Cade Cowell and Chivas on Wednesday as the pair of Liga MX squads prepare for two legs. Zendejas has remained a key performer for Club America this winter, logging five goals and five assists in eight league appearances. The 27-year-old remains very much on the radar of several North American clubs, but looks set to stay in Mexico for the time being.
Cowell, 21, has registered one assist in CONCACAF Champions Cup play, but is still seeking his first goal of the campaign. The former San Jose Earthquakes homegrown has been in and out of the starting lineup this winter, continuing to feature out wide in the team’s set-up. Cowell, who will be pushing for more international opportunities this year, could use this next two-legged affair as a positive springboard into Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.
In Europe, Richie Ledezma and Gio Reyna aim for Champions League starts. Tanner Tessmann and Lyon resume Europa League play.
In England, Ethan Horvath and Cardiff City seek a bounce-back result following their FA Cup elimination. Catarina Macario and Chelsea take on Leicester City in WSL action.

USA and Mexico men national teams supposedly suppose to play Turkey and Switzerland in friendlies in United States before Gold Cup.
Mia Fishel on the bench for Chelsea today, still in the first half, so hopefully she’ll get on the field later.
Fishel was an unused sub, but still a hopeful sign she suited up.
Thanks for that JR, I can wait till she returns to full fitness!
Macario scored the opener. Chelsea has several 2 match weeks this month so as long as Fishel stays on track fitness wise she should see some time.

Here you go:
“Mexico will take on Switzerland at Rice-Ecles Stadium at the University of Utah on June 7, followed by a match against Turkey on June 10 at Kenan Stadium at the University of North Carolina.
El Tri has faced Switzerland six times previously, with the European nation holding a 4W-1D-1L record. Mexico has never faced Turkey in its history.
The Washington Post reported that the U.S. men’s national team is also likely to face Switzerland and Turkey in pre-Gold Cup friendlies. The USMNT will play Turkey on June 7 in East Hartford, Conn. and Switzerland on June 10 at a yet-to-be-determined location.”
Thanks for that Vacqui!
PSV could have really used Pepi and Dest tonight.
PSV needed more than them.
Sometimes you just have to admit that one team is a lot better than another team.
