Malik Tillman is making up for lost time this Eredivisie season.
Tillman scored his 13th goal of the season across all competitions as PSV rolled past Almere City 5-0 on Saturday. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder made it back-to-back weekends with at least one goal to his name, earning SBI Americans Abroad Player of the Week honors.
With PSV already holding a 3-0 lead, Tillman pounced on a rebound in the 41st minute to extend the hosts lead. Noa Lang’s original effort was saved but Tillman finished off the rebound for a 4-0 advantage.
The 22-year-old played 63 minutes in the match before being substituted off by manager Peter Bosz. Tillman suffered a slight knock to his leg, but isn’t expected to miss ample time because of it.
PSV remains in the title race with five matches remaining. Ajax holds a 9-point lead over the reigning champions.
PSV next travels to FC Twente on April 24.
Here is a look at some of the other top Americans Abroad performers from this past week:
Cameron Carter-Vickers
Cameron Carter-Vickers isn’t known for his goalscoring abilities but the American defender certainly wowed spectators in Glasgow on Saturday.
Carter-Vickers scored a screamer in Celtic’s 5-1 home victory over Kilmarnock in Scottish Premiership action. It marked the veteran defender’s second goal of the season in all competitions and his first in league play.
The USMNT defender could very well add two additional trophies to his growing achievement list by season’s end.
Christian Pulisic
Christian Pulisic’s productive season continued on Friday.
Pulisic registered his ninth assist of the season in all competitions as AC Milan rolled past Udinese 4-0. The USMNT star now has two assists since the March international window and has helped the Rossoneri remain in the race for a European qualification spot.
Chris Richards
Saturday marked a day of ups-and-downs for Chris Richards.
Richards scored his second goal of the season, but Crystal Palace suffered a 5-2 road loss to Manchester City. The USMNT defender helped the Eagles pad their first half lead to 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
However, the host Citizens would rally to earn all three points, snapping the Eagles’ seven-match unbeaten run.
Phallon Tullis-Joyce
Manchester United advanced to the Women’s FA Cup Final thanks to a strong performance from USWNT goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce.
Tullis-Joyce registered a four-save clean sheet as the Red Devils defeated rivals Manchester City 2-0 in semifinal action. The 28-year-old will now prepare for a final showdown with Chelsea on May 18, in addition to the final weeks of the WSL season.
What did you think of these individual performances this past week? Was there anyone left off the list that you would’ve added?

Nice
There is just so much to like about Tillman. In terms of talent-across-the-board he might have the most upside of any player in the pool. Extraordinary athlete: big, fast, strong, has the balance of a cat. Exceptional first touch and technical ability. And so, so intelligent and calm. Dude just reads the game as well as any player in our pool except maybe Diego Luna, shows icewater in his veins almost every highlight reel you watch for PSV. I could legitimately see him dominating even at, say, Bayern Munich, which I think still has a buyback clause on him Personally I think he needs an incremental step to a low-to-mid-table B1 team before he’s ready to cross that bridge, and it assumes his game continues to scale up as the intensity and pace of play increase. So it’s a lot of miles between here and there. But I don’t think he’s nearly at his ceiling yet.
Only one question, and it’s a similar one to Josh Sargent – where is that guy for the USMNT?
Biggest bridge to cross is going to a league that has more than a handful of teams with solid starting eleven. Then be a regular starter at the next level.
Tillman does have a lot to work with!
