French side Lyon added its third U.S. women’s national team player to the mix.
Lily Yohannes joined Lyon in a permanent deal from Ajax, both clubs announced Monday. The 18-year-old midfielder joins Korbin Albert and Lindsey Heaps in the Lyon squad heading into the 2025-26 campaign.
Albert joined in a permanent deal from Paris Saint-Germain back on July 4.
Lyon had previously expressed interest in Yohannes back in mid-June and concluded that interest this month.
At club level, Yohannes debuted for Ajax’s first team in 2023 and since has scored 11 goals in 50 first-team appearances. She became the youngest player to ever start a UEFA Women’s Champions League match when Ajax faced Paris Saint-Germain in UCL play.
A former dual-national, Yohannes committed to the USWNT over the Netherlands. She debuted for the United States in June 2024, scoring on her debut and earning a combined eight caps since.
Lyon won the Premiere Ligue title in 2024-25 while also reaching the Women’s Champions League semifinals before falling to eventual winners, Arsenal.
