Report: Weston McKennie to stay at Juventus until end of contract

Weston McKennie will reportedly run out the remainder of his contract with Italian Serie A side Juventus.

McKennie has made a decision to play for the Turin club for the final 10 months, Tuttosport reported Thursday. Despite a previous agreement between McKennie and former Juventus sporting director Cristiano Guintoli to extend the midfielder’s stay past June 2026, the deal was cancelled by new general manager Damien Comolli.

McKennie would have also received a pay raise as part of the original agreement, taking his yearly salary to €3.5 million, according to the report.

The American midfielder scored five goals and added four assists last season for Juventus in 48 combined appearances. Since joining the Bianconeri from Schalke in 2020, McKennie has made 182 appearances for the club, scoring 18 goals, registering 19 assists, and helping Juventus lift three trophies (two Coppa Italia titles and one Italian Supercup).

He also spent time on loan at Leeds United during the 2023-24 campaign.

McKennie captained the club at two matches during this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup, helping Juventus reach the Round of 16 before they suffered a 1-0 loss to Real Madrid.

On the international level, McKennie has scored 11 goals in 60 caps for the U.S. men’s national team. He remains a key player heading into 2026, knowing the FIFA World Cup is on North American soil.

Juventus begins its Serie A schedule on August 24 against Parma before also facing Genoa on Aug. 31 ahead of the September international break.
