Lionel Messi added another MVP award to his growing trophy cabinet.
Messi was named MLS MVP for the second-straight season, the league announced Tuesday. The Argentine star most recently helped Inter Miami win MLS Cup this past weekend, registering two assists in a 3-1 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps.
He earned 70.43% of the total vote for the award, while San Diego FC’s Andres Dreyer finished second in the voting (11.15%) and LAFC’s Denis Bouanga finished third (7.27%).
Messi became the first player in league history to win consecutive MVP awards. He won the league’s Golden Boot award and was named to the MLS Best XI after totaling 29 goals during the regular season.
Overall, Messi finished the year with 48 goal contributions during the regular season, as well as a league-record 15 additional contributions during the postseason.
Messi became just the second player in MLS history to lead the league in both goals and assists during a single regular season (Sebastian Giovinco).
Inter Miami has now lifted three trophies since Messi’s arrival at the club in 2023. The Herons won the Leagues Cup in 2023 before winning Supporters’ Shield in 2024.
Messi signed a new multi-year contract with the Herons earlier this year, which will take him through the 2027 MLS season.
Inter Miami’s 2026 season will begin slightly earlier than its MLS schedule due to its qualification into the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

“Lionel Messi named 2025 MLS MVP, wins award for second-straight season……AT 38 YEARS OF AGE!!!!!!”, a true testament to his almost “supernatural” skill and abilities (cannot even imagine what it’ll be like to face him in his prime, damn!!!!)
There will not be another player like Messi (and Ronaldo CR7)……..any time soon in the near future.
The absolute goat of the game….CONGRATS
