Americans Abroad Weekend Preview: Trusty, Robinson, and more

Celtic’s 2026 schedule gets underway on Saturday with its biggest rival making the trip to Parkhead.

Auston Trusty and Celtic face off with Glasgow rivals Rangers in the third rivalry showdown of the current campaign. Trusty played 90 minutes on Tuesday in a 2-0 road loss to Motherwell, a defeat that continued a worrying winter for Wilfried Nancy’s men.

Following Cameron Carter-Vickers’ injury, Trusty has jumped back into the mix in Glasgow. The veteran centerback has made 15 starts for the club across all competitions, quickly becoming one of the club’s more important players.

If Celtic wants to claim its first league victory over Rangers since September 2024, Trusty will have to anchor the backline once again. However, a defeat could very well see Rangers leapfrog Celtic in the league table, something that would increase pressure on Nancy and his players in January.

In England, Antonee Robinson and Fulham host Liverpool in a crucial Premier League match. Brenden Aaronson and Leeds United host Manchester United. George Campbell and West Bromwich Albion visit Leicester City in EFL Championship action.

In France, Folarin Balogun and Monaco host Lyon. Tim Weah and Marseille take on Nantes. Mark McKenzie and Toulouse face off with Lens.

In Italy, Christian Pulisic and AC Milan visit Cagliari while Weston McKennie and Juventus host Lecce. Yunus Musah and Atalanta host AS Roma as he seeks to get back into the starting lineup.

Elsewhere, Johnny Cardoso and Atletico Madrid face off with Real Sociedad. Jordan Pefok and Tondela host Arouca in Portuguese league play. Dante Polvara and Aberdeen visit Falkirk in Scottish action.

  1. McKennie given a rest today. He’s starting at CM instead of WB. Less running required. That’s about as close to a rest he seems to be getting at Juventus these days.
