Middlesbrough and Coventry City are neck-and-neck in the EFL Championship’s promotion race and the two promotion favorites will face off for their final meeting of the season on Monday.
Aidan Morris and Haji Wright square off on Monday night with both players seeking to lead their clubs to a statement win. Morris and Middlesbrough most recently downed Sheffield United 2-1 on Monday, leapfrogging Kim Hellberg’s squad into first place.
The U.S. men’s national team midfielder hasn’t missed a beat since returning from injury, making eight-straight starts in all competitions. Morris has led by example in the heart of midfield, helping Boro earn six-consecutive victories in league play.
Wright started off the league season in blistering form, but has since seen the goals dry up. The 27-year-old has only scored twice in his last 21 appearances for club and country, with both of those goals coming in the new year.
If Frank Lampard’s squad wants to stay in the top-two race and ultimately win the league championship, Wright has to get back in form and fast.
