Josh Sargent’s reported move to Toronto FC is on the way to becoming finalized.
Norwich City have agreed to a $22 million transfer fee with the Eastern Conference club for Sargent’s services, The Daily Mail reported Friday. Sargent is en route to Canada to undergo his medical, according to the report.
Sargent has been out of action with the Canaries since January 4. The 26-year-old was left out of Norwich City’s FA Cup squad that month after relaying to manager Philippe Clement that he would be unavailable for the match due to reported interest from MLS.
Sargent had previously relayed his wishes to move back to the United States. Clement later demoted Sargent to training with Norwich City’s U-21’s as punishment for missing the FA Cup win over Walsall.
Sargent originally joined Norwich City in 2021 from Werder Bremen and has scored 56 goals in 157 appearances for the club in all competitions. He had eight goals and three assists in 24 appearances this season.
A move to Toronto FC now gives the Canadian club a major boost to its attack after once again missing the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2025.
Toronto FC begins its 2026 schedule on Saturday at FC Dallas.

We know what he can do in the English championship. Now let’s see how that “level” translates to MLS’s standard of play.
