Venezia and AC Milan square off this weekend in Serie A play, with a pair of American players seeking to lead their respective clubs to three important points.
Gianluca Busio and Venezia welcomes Christian Pulisic and AC Milan to town in one of the intriguing showdowns of the weekend slate. Busio and Venezia remain in the relegation scrap at the bottom of the league table. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder recently scored his second goal of the campaign as Venezia drew fellow strugglers Empoli 2-2.
After coughing up two points in the dying stages against Empoli, Venezia will aim to claim a major scalp on home soil.
Pulisic and AC Milan are still alive in the race to a top-six finish in Serie A, but cannot afford any slip-ups on the road. The USMNT star logged 71 minutes in a 1-0 league loss to Atalanta, one that marked only their third home defeat of the campaign.
Pulisic’s nine league goals and eight assists have once again made him one of the dynamic attackers in Serie A. However, the 26-year-old will need to pull out his best if the Rossoneri wants to find a way into a European competition next season.
In England, Chris Richards and Crystal Palace face Aston Villa in FA Cup semifinal action. Emily Fox and Arsenal welcome Barcelona to town in Women’s Champions League play. Haji Wright and Aidan Morris continue their top-six quest in the EFL Championship.
Elsewhere in Italy, Weston McKennie and Juventus take on Monza.
In France, Tanner Tessmann and Lyon host Stade Rennes in Ligue 1 play.
In Germany, Joe Scally and John Tolkin go head-to-head in Bundesliga action. Kevin Paredes aims to retain his starting spot for Wolfsburg.
Elsewhere, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty and Celtic could clinch the Premiership title with a victory over Dundee United. George Bello and LASK face Austria Klagenfurt in league play. Griffin Yow, Bryan Reynolds and Westerlo continue their busy league schedule. Erik Palmer-Brown and Panathinaikos take on PAOK Salonika. Paxten Aaronson and FC Utrecht are one of the few Eredivisie clubs in action.
